Detailed description of Golf Club of the Limberlost

Golf Club of the Limberlost, originally named Wabash Valley Golf Club, is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Geneva, Indiana.

The golf course first opened in 1964 as a nine hole track, designed by Ronald Kern, under the name of Wabash Valley. The course expanded with nine new challenging holes in 1991.

The course was cut out of the old Limberlost Swamp area.  Limberlost Swamp is the only natural swamp in Indiana.  Trees and water hazards come into play on many holes.  The holes range from wide open and forgiving to tight fairways lined by trees. A definite mixture of of difficulties add to the fun.

Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6,375 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,978 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 2, a par-5 that plays to 527 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 3, a par-3 that plays to 120 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 7, a 421 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 13, a 142 yard par-3.

The signature hole is #12, a 521-yard, par 5, requiring golf shots through wooded areas and over water.

It was a beautiful day in Spring at a wonderfully well cared for golf course. The course varies from wide open, bent grass fairways with small greens, to narrow, par five, tree lined holes, from long par threes to short par threes over water. There are short, well protected par fours, to long, dogleg par fours. Having command of your golf swing will get you to the green in regulation, where undulating greens will test your ability to read, then putt the bent grass surfaces.

Would travel: 30-60 Miles
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Ranks with the best in this price level, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
